Frequently Asked Questions

Tell me about you!

My name is Katie Sue (she/they)! I am originally from Northeastern Pennsylvania, but have settled in the Mid West. I have been knitting for around 6 years. I used to always dye my clothes as a teenager, so getting to dye yarn for people to use in their own projects is a dream. My other loves are sewing, all dogs, earl grey tea, classic rock, and telling stories.

Where is the yarn being dyed?

All of our products are made to order in the kitchen of our cozy home in Kansas, US. Our home is a smoke free and pet free.

When can I expect my yarn?

Each preorder listing will have the anticipated turnaround time listed. Any in stock orders will be mailed out within a week. If you place an in stock order at the same time as a preorder, the in stock yarn will not ship until the whole order is ready, so please be mindful of that.

Do you offer any inclusivity discounts?

Yes! We have sweater quantity discounts. We offer 10% off of orders of 5 skeins, and 15% off orders of 7 skeins or more.

Please be mindful that the intent behind these discounts is inclusivity, both for creators in larger bodies and for makers who may not typically be able to afford a sweater quantity worth of yarn. Making sure as many people as possible can enjoy our yarn in a way that is financially feasible for them is very important to me!

So I hope you will use these coupon codes if your project is in the spirit of what the discounts were created for.

For sweater quantity orders of 5 skeins+ use code SweaterQuantity10

For sweater quantity orders of 7 skeins+ use code SweaterQuantity15

Please be mindful that this coupon codes cannot be combined with any other coupons. And the codes only apply to individual skeins.

Due to the yarn shortage, I may have to supplement my yarn from multiple sources. The yarn content will always remain consistent, but yardages may vary slightly. Regardless, your order will always be dyed of skeins from the same supplier, and your skein tag will always reflect the correct yardage.

Are your yarns mulesing free?

Yes! All of our base yarns are purchased from mulesing free distributors.

How do I take care of my yarn?

To ensure the longevity of your purchase, I suggest washing all of our yarns in cool water. All of our yarns are washed after being dyed to remove excess pigment. That being said, due to the nature of hand dyeing, some excess pigment may remain. These pigments are what give the skeins their deep and saturated color, but some transfer may occur (Think of it like breaking in a new pair of jeans!) Take care when using very dark or bright tones in colorwork, and only wash your completed pieces in cool water to prevent color bleeding. The super saturated shades are worth the little extra bit of care.

Do you have a return policy?

Because of the made to order nature of hand dyed yarns, I cannot accept returns or offer refunds. That being said, if there is a problem with your order, or I made a mistake, please contact me. I will do everything I can to make it right.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! But be mindful that any taxes, customs fees, etc. associated with international orders are the responsibility of the customer.
